The AsTeRICS project gathers expertise from different fields (social, research, industry) for the development of the AT construction set - AsTeRICS. The aim of AsTeRICS was to develop innovative user driven AT by combining emerging sensor techniques, like Brain-Computer Interfaces and computer vision, with basic actuators to control a computer system. To reach this aim it was important to clearly identify the needs of users with disabilities and to use that knowledge to inform the development of the AsTeRICS system.
Therefore the development of AsTeRICS needed experts in the fields of user involvement, disability, Assistive Technology, hardware and software development.
The AsTeRICS consortium gathers partners from seven European countries into a multi-disciplinary team with the varied competences to realise the aspirations of AsTeRICS.
